Grace in the Middle of Grief

How do you reconcile tragedy with God?

I honesty do not know. I am on the struggle bus with this one.

I have to fall back on my faith for comfort.

  • The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

  • Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

  • Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

  • Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

This world contains human choices, brokenness, consequences, and yes—evil.
But faith teaches that God is not the creator of tragedy; He is the Redeemer who works within it, through it, and in spite of it.

The cross itself is the ultimate picture: the worst act of violence and injustice became the world’s doorway to hope.

Our community needs hope. And justice.

Rest in peace, sweet Oaklynn.
